Dash Go Rapid Egg Cooker Review

Hi Guys, today I’m reviewing the Dash Rapid Egg Cooker. LINK to Dash Egg Cooker: http://amzn.to/2sJ85MT This looks like a cute gadget and I got it in Red. It’s also available in Aqua, Black and White. This model cooks 6 eggs at a time. There is another model that cooks 12 eggs at a time. Today, I’ll test out this model that cooks 6 eggs. Basically this is supposed to take the guess work out of when your eggs are done. The unit measures about 7.5 inches across and 6.5 inches tall. The cord measure almost 31 inches long. Of course you can leave it on your countertop because it’s so small.

With this unit, you can make hard, medium or soft boiled eggs as well as poached eggs and omelettes. Included is the base with a heating plate, it’s not removable, the power button and indicator light, boiling tray and handle, omelette bowl, poaching tray, lid with steam hole and handle, and measuring cup with a pin to poke whole eggs. The cup is what you use to measure out water, there are markings for hard, medium and soft boiled eggs as well as omelette or poached egg. There’s a time guideline in the instruction manual for large eggs. If you’re using jumbo eggs, you’ll have to add a little extra water and it’ll take more time to cook. There are a few recipes in the manual for deviled eggs, eggs benedict and egg salad. You can also steam foods other than eggs in this unit and there are instructions for that in the manual. You can steam fresh and frozen vegetables, fish, dumplings and even tortillas.

Yes, I know this looks like a cheap plastic toy especially in red but let’s test it out and see if it actually works. We’ll try hard boiled eggs. Pour cold water up to the hard line on the measuring cup, that’s 2 ounces of water in case you lose this cup. Med 1 oz soft ⅞ omelette 1.25 oz
Pour water onto the heating plate. Put the handle on the boiling tray and put the tray on the heating plate. Pierce the wider end of each egg with the pin and set the eggs on the tray with the hole facing up. Put the lid on and then plug in the unit. Press the power button to start cooking, the blue indicator light will come on.

When all the water has evaporated from the heating plate, a buzzer goes off so you know the eggs are finished cooking. I think the person who designed the buzzer was hard of hearing because it’s so loud, it’ll give you a heart attack. It’s not a buzzer, more like a fire alarm. It’ll scare your children, pets and anyone else in the house. Turn the button to off, it does not shut of automatically. Now the hard boiled eggs are ready. For easier peeling, put the eggs in cold water. It’s been 5 mins, let’s peel the egg.

Now let’s try a poached egg. Fill the measuring cup with cold water to the Omelette/Poached Line and pour water onto the Heating Plate. The tray is non stick but should be sprayed with cooking spray. I’ll wipe it with a little oil since I don’t have any spray. The boiling tray goes on the heating plate, then the poaching tray. Break the egg into each section. Put the lid on, plug in and turn it on.

To make an omelette, fill cold water to the omelette/poached line. Pour the water onto the heating plate. Wipe the bowl with a little oil or spray it. Put the boiling tray on, the the omelette bowl. Whisk 1 or 2 eggs and pour it into the bowl. Cover with the lid and plug it in. You can also use the poaching tray to make two different omelettes with different fillings like cheese in one, vegetables in the other or a regular omelette in one and an egg white omelette in the other.

To clean, let the unit cool completely. It’s not dishwasher safe. Wash the parts with warm soapy water and dry. The base can be wiped down with a damp cloth. The heating plate may get stained over time from hard water and you can use a vinegar solution to clean it. There are instructions in the manual.

For storage, put all the parts in and lock the lid by turning it. Don’t lock the lid when cooking, just when storing the unit away.
