Steam and Gas Show Seminole Valley Farm - Antique Tractors and Equipment

Joe visits Seminole Valley Farm in Cedar Rapids, Iowa for their annual Steam and Gas Show featuring antique tractors powered by gas engines and steam engines as well as a number of small antique gas engines.

The history of this living history farm is explained by Bob Gilchrist. The four events held at the farm provide the revenue to keep the farm going for the rest of the year.

Scott Wiley gives us a detailed explanation of his A.D. Baker steam engine with its locomotive style boiler. He goes through the whole process of how the steam engine works and Joe has close up shots of all the parts. We see a great shot of the 54 tubes inside the boiler! Then we see the steam engine in action using the belt drive to power an antique threshing machine.

Next Kenny Huffaker shows us his 1920's saw mill that he rebuilt in the 1970's. It has a 56" saw blake with removable teeth. He shows us how the teeth are removed for replacement. Great video of the sawmill in action milling some local logs.

A display of numerous small gas powered engines in next.Doug Houser demonstrates some of these 4 cycle engines used between 1900-1930 to power numerous labor saving devices such as corn shuckers and water pumps.
