Speaker 1: Today on our 2016 Ford F53 Chassis motor home, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the SumoSprings Maxim custom helper springs, part number SSR-187-54-1. So here's what our SumoSprings look like when they're fully installed. Now, these are going to upgrade our vehicle's factory suspension to level the vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep the ride comfortable. It's going to even out the weight, which levels the vehicle and ensures that the front tires are making better contact with the road. And a level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps minimize sway. The springs also support the factory suspension, which is going to help with any sagging and reduce bottoming out. Now, each one of these is going to work independently from each other.

This is going to help reduce body roll when you make a sharp turn, and it's also going to compensate for off-center loads. Now, what's great about these compared to air springs is once they're installed, there's now adjustment and no maintenance to take care of.Now, before we installed our SumoSprings, we took our motor home onto our test course. Now, we had a few bumps set up, and I can tell you immediately there was a definite feeling that the vehicle was about to bottom out, and it was just a little bit stiff. And then, we took our vehicle onto the slalom course. There was a major amount of body roll.

It felt like I was going a little bit too fast and I needed to slow down to control the body roll and the swing of my motor home. Now, after we installed our SumoSprings, we took it back onto our bump course, and I could immediately notice a difference, that the load was more supported and the suspension reacted quicker, getting back to where it needed to be. Now, once we went on the slalom course, there was a major difference in body roll, and it just felt more secure and more safe going down the road. Now that we've gone over some of the features, let's show you how we get them installed. Now, to begin our installation, I went ahead and removed the rear wheels. Now, you want to make sure that you support the vehicle by the frame so the axle can hang down a little bit. Now, we're going to start by taking our spring here, and we're going to notice that we're going to have four holes on top of our spring. Now, we're going to be using the two farthest holes apart for mounting it, so we can grab our bracket.

And making sure that the tabs are pointing down towards the spring, and this lip here is facing up. We can go ahead and line up the holes on our bracket and the spring. And then, we can grab two short 3/8ths bolts that are supplied. And we're just going to put these in hand-tight for right now, just so we can loosely assemble the spring. Now that we have these loosely in place, we're going to flip it over. Now, we can take our lower bracket here.

Now, when we put it on our spring, we want to make sure that the flat section is right against the bottom and that the tabs are pointing away from the spring. Now, we're going to take another one of our 3/8ths flange bolts, and we're just going to loosely put it in place. Just hand tight. That way, the bracket can still move on our spring. And I want to mention, on the lower bracket here, this tab that has a small hook on it, this hook is actually going to grab onto our factory leaf spring U-bolt. So we're going to take our bracket, and we're going to set it around our leaf spring. And again, you want to make sure that hook's grabbing the edge of this U-bolt here, and you want to have it straddling your leaf spring towards the front of the vehicle. We'll get it loosely in place. Now, we're going to need to take a jack and jack up the axle so that we can raise our top bracket into position. From the top of the frame to this mark, that's going to be the measurement they give us in our instructions. But we're going to need to line up the lower holes in our bracket or get it as close as possible if we run out of room. So I'm going to keep jacking the axle up with my jack until it lines up and gets as close as possible to these two marks. Now, when we're going to mount this, we're going to be using the two lower holes on each side of our bracket. Now, you can either mark these on the frame and then drill them out to a final 3/8ths hole, or you can use the bracket as a template, drill a small pilot hole, and then enlarge it to, finally, a 3/8ths hole. Now, I do want to mention you always want to double check behind the frame. Make sure there's no lines o
