Roots and Representation: Black Women in Film
Female subjectivity in the African film industry, as elsewhere, has often been defined by men. Presently, African women film-makers are facing the challenge of regaining the power of self-definition and self-realisation for women. This panel will discuss the role of women in film making looking at both successes and failures, and all the factors involved. Some of the women who have accomplished laudable feats will be celebrated.
