Trakai Castle | How to visit on a budget by bus and train

Trakai Castle is an incredible medieval castle set on a beautiful lake and is a highlight of a visit to Lithuania.

It is quite easy to visit the castle on a day trip from Vilnius and can be done independently using public transport. Watch the video to find out how.

BONUS TIP: It is FREE to visit Trakai on the last Sunday of the month. The entry fee normally costs €8 per person.

The cheapest tour we could find from Vilnius was €20. That was only a half day and did not include entry. The total cost of our transport for the day was €3.80 each and entry was free!

We totally recommend a trip out to Trakai if you are visiting Vilnius. It is a beautiful spot. Even if you don't fancy the castle you can take a picnic and even go for a boat trip on the lake.
