Before you guys get into a huge argument about this, understand that I'm talking about how this piece changed my perspective on how music can be constructed, not whether or not Schubert wanted to use that motif as a blueprint for how the piece was going to modulate, or how that motif might represent the actual Erlkönig character at all (which I'm now pretty sure I might have heard that idea from a grad student while I was at school...).
Either way, this piece had a pretty profound effect on me, and I just wanted to share that.
