We gave a scam victim $10,000 in cash after she was scammed by a debt relief scammer.

This is Ronna. She’s an 83 year old victim that was scammed out of $8,000 by a debt relief scammer. We’re driving to her home right now to surprise her with $10,000, and she has no idea.

A few months back, we got an address of a money mule located in Rocky River Ohio, thanks to our brother and undercover badass, Jaani, aka Barbosa. Jaani got this address by pretending to be an Amazon refund scammer. He went undercover and connected with a real scammer calling himself Phillip. Phillip gave Jaani the address to one of his money mules, who lives at this condominium complex in Rocky River, and told him he could have his stolen $30,000 of scam money sent here for processing.

Instead of sending real cash, we decided to go to Ohio and hand deliver the package ourselves. Once we got to the mule’s door, we got a terrifying and heartbreaking look into what was really going on with this mule. Her name is Ronna, and she’s 83 years old. Phillip had convinced her that he worked for a debt reduction company for her Discover card. He was taking her for a ride, by making thousands of dollars of charges to her Discover card, meanwhile telling her that the charges would be refunded and her debt would be cleared as long as she kept sending minimum payments to the card. The $30,000 package, she was told, contained her debt reduction documents that Phillip strongly insisted that she not open upon receiving it. She was about to get further instruction to have it forwarded up the chain of scammer command, but thankfully, we were able to intervene.

We sat down with Ronna for quite some time that day, explaining how vile and tricky these scammers can be, and how they are professional manipulators, especially to older folks. We urged her to cut off communication with Phillip, and call the real Discover directly to work with their fraud prevention team, which she did.

But one thing fraud prevention will never be able to fix is the emotional damage that these scammers do, sometimes tearing families apart just to keep their operations going. After leaving Ronna’s home, we felt something had to be done to give her a little help. We started a GoFundMe for her, without telling her, and since the original video was published, the $8,000 dollar goal has been exceeded, thanks to each and every one of you amazing people that donated. We topped the total off to $10,000, and we’re about to hand deliver it to Ronna, and she has no idea.
