Climate-change sceptics question cause of global warming

(4 Dec 2018) A group of scientists at the Katowice climate-change talks challenged Tuesday the widespread consensus that humans are responsible for global warming.
At an event organised by a US conservative public policy think-tank, speakers claimed it's mostly because of increased activity from the sun.
Wolfgang Muller, a so-called sceptic on climate change, said the assertion that global warming is man-made is a "political decision".
Such claims are frustrating for mainstream scientists who have spent decades studying past variations in Earth's climate in order to understand current changes and provide forecasts for the future.
Valerie Masson-Delmotte, a French climate scientist who co-chairs one of the working groups at the Katowice talks, said there was a difference between people who produce knowledge, and people who just have opinions about knowledge.
Representatives from almost 200 countries have gathered in the southern Polish city to discuss how they will ensure they meet the targets set out in the 2015 Paris agreement.
