How to create the AI we actually want | Ellen König | TEDxUniPotsdam

My new washing machine comes with a built-in „Artificial Intelligence“ to control the spin cycle. Whenever I wash my bedsheets in it, they are still dripping wet when it’s done.
AI promises us smart assistance in our daily lives. But not only is AI often not smart, in certain situations it is scary.
It doesn't have to be that way. In this talk, I want to introduce you to some empowering perspectives on AI that I learned as a tech professional. And suggest how we can figure out together what AI we want in our future, and how to create it. Ellen König studied computer science and philosophy at the University of Potsdam and psychology and sociology at the Open University in Hagen.
Since then, she has been working in software development with a focus on data analysis and machine learning.
She currently leads the "Data Engineering" department at WhereIsMyTransport, a start-up developing applications for public transport in emerging markets.
