It’s not easy to define what spirituality is, but it is more difficult to determine what a spiritual awakening is. Spirituality isn’t the same as being religious, where you restrict yourself to a specific religion and devote yourself entirely to it. Spirituality is more like your inner self – how you detach yourself from all the ‘worldly’ thing and you no longer put your “I” ego first over everything. It’s more about awakened to life, and you realize that your life is more than what meets the eye.

More about Spiritual Awakening.

Just as the term defines, spiritual awakening is about your spirit finally awakens to your life. If you ask yourself fundamental questions like “Why am I alive?” or “Why do I exist? What is my role or my importance to this life?” then you have figured them all during your spiritual awakening. The process can be different from one person to another. Some people may have it easy during their transition, while others may have to struggle harder.

One thing is, you have found the answer to your existence when your spirit is awakened. You understand your role in this world (and this life), and you know that you can do so much more. Money and power no longer excite you because you have reached a higher degree of consciousness. You are able to connect more to yourself, and you feel somewhat more peaceful and more satisfied. It means that you are spirituality satisfied, and it is nothing to do with money, wealth, or such thing alike.

However, the process of this stage isn’t easy. In most cases, you may experience unhappiness and rough patches at first. But as you progress further and can somehow connect yourself to the universe and your inner self, you are happier and more content.

If you have read the book ‘Eat, Love, and Pray’, you will see that the process isn’t easy. The person was restless and not happy, although she couldn’t really understand what was wrong. And then she experienced an enlightenment moment and spiritual awakening that made her leave her life and started over.

Things You Give up.

When your spirituality is awakened, some things happen along the way whether you realize it or not. Worldly stuff is no longer exciting, and you lose interest in money or power. If you're experiencing this now, then be ready to lose interest over some things, which happen naturally.
