Ukrainians flee the country as Russia launches wide-ranging attack

Long lines of cars jammed the road leading outside Kyiv and residents massed at the railway station as Russian troops launched a wide-ranging attack on Ukraine.

Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko advised residents to stay at home unless they are involved in critical work and urged them to prepare go-bags with essentials if they needed to evacuate.

One Ukrainian described how he fled from Lviv and how he had heard sirens as he arrived in the Polish town of Medyka, a border crossing with Ukraine.
