Livonia, MI Shelden Park Federal Signal EOWS-612 Tornado Siren Test November 3rd, 2007

This is a Federal Signal EOWS-612 Tornado Siren sounding off for it's monthly test. The signal this siren ran through out the years while it was in service is called "Alternate Wail Signal" or High-Low Wail. Generally, most sirens including EOWS-612s would normally run in Steady Signal or Wail Signal as standard. The main reason why this ran Alternate Wail signal is likely due to probable signal set up error during siren installation. My main guess is that they were originally meant to have the siren run "Wail Signal" to go with all the other sirens in Livonia to match with the signal ambiance. Even though, this was programmed differently, it was a treat to hear this siren sound off this signal during tests and warnings through out my younger years.

Also, Chicago's sirens that also run Alternate Wail Signal are NOT EOWSs or Siratone controllers. They are Federal Signal Modulators using MCP controls. Siren videos like this are NOT meant to be used for creation and amusement. Siren videos are meant to watch and enjoy.
Violators will be striked for misuse of video and audio.

This siren has been replaced by a Federal Signal 2001-130 but the new siren is a quarter of a mile east of this location. This was located at Shelden Park off of Van Court St next to Farmington Rd close to Plymouth Rd. Now the siren head itself is personally owned by a kind enough gentlemen who coincidentally happens to live in Livonia.
