Marble Divider Transport Tracks - Marble Machine X #68

Latest News: Maybe we did find an alternative programming wheel design yesterday, brainstorming with the team! (after the recording of this video)

As I mention inside the video the most popular suggestion for a design change is to have the songs preprogrammed on tour. This would only be practical if the sections are redesigned into something much smaller and lighter.
Yesterday I talked about pop rivets in a thin metal sheet with holes drilled by the CNC machine and then Tim Keller mentioned a welding stud gun and that we could bolt one to my cnc machine then I found this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzLPZj_lkwk
a welding stud gun CNC machine from HBS, Germany,
The idea here is to use thin metal sheet and have the CNC machine accurately weld on the programming pins to the flat sheet.
The sheet is thin enough to easily bend around the radius of the programming wheel.
To save weight you could laser cut the sheets beforehand and remove a lot of excessive material.
The songs could be transported flat, and perhaps even be cut in one length, although 267 cm is probably to large surface to cover for the machine so maybe two halves is the practical choice.
Anyone know anyone working at HBS? Maybe they want to do a collab on this :)

This solution does not allow me to compose spontaneously on the machine, but I can use my existing programming sections for that, and then the stud welded solution for the world tour :) best of two worlds.

One dark cloud on the stud welding sky: Every weld would distort the sheet a little, so more notes, more distortion. this might be too much distortion for keeping things accurate. Maybe software can compensate for that.
And this is a great example of why this problem is tricky, every solution that seems genius, provides its own new problems.

But, Come on HBS, wanna go dragon hunting with the Poster Child of Sunken Cost fallacy?? Its a Very rare event, lets do it!

Good luck with everything you do! / Martin
