What’s the difference between a balayage and an ombre? “Balayage” is a French word which means “to sweep” which refers to the motion the hairstylist is making as they hand-paint your hair. In a balayage, the highlighted ends are made to blend seamlessly in with your natural hair color, whereas in an ombre there is a clear fade line between your natural hair color and the highlighted portion of your ends.
The balayage has been one of the most popular hair color styles over the past few years, and it continues to be popular for good reason! Balayages are a great way to change up your look without having to commit to a TON of maintenance in the salon. Although balayages can be expensive and time consuming, there are so many possibilities for beautiful hair color with this look. Bring your balayage to a platinum blonde and experiment with some fantasy hair color or go for those subtle caramel highlights! Balayages work best for longer hair, but you can balayage your bob too.
