Kodi Suzuki-Lopez grew up homeless with drug-addicted parents in East Los Angeles. For him, "The Search" was more than a search for a home—it was a search for stability and hope. In his talk, he shares the journey of his family's recovery, and his firsthand experience of losing a home, parental drug abuse, and the results of sobriety—all while applying to one of the most prestigious high schools in the country. In doing so, he shows us all the triumphs of determination and power of true perseverance. Kodi Suzuki-Lopez is a sophomore at Phillips Exeter Academy (Class of '23). Growing up, he was homeless with drug-addicted parents in East Los Angeles. In his talk, she shares his firsthand experience of losing a home, parental drug abuse, and the results of sobriety and perseverance.
