Glowing and bursting lava bubbles at Halemaumau Lava Lake

A particularly bubble-rich period of activity at the lava lake this morning. Lots of bubbles of gases in the lava (I call them lava bubbles as it is the lava that fragments and splatters - also called bursting) rising to the surface and bursting.

Filmed by me (Tanis Coralee Leonhardi) overlooking Halemaumau Crater Lava Lake in Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park, Island of Hawai‘i (Big Island), Hawai‘i, United States of America at 6:11 a.m. on Tuesday 4 March 2014 with one of my Nikon Coolpix L820 cameras. Premiered 20 December 2020.
