Richards, a US national living in Utah took the web community by surprise with his Telugu speaking skills. You read that right, this man who runs an ice cream store in Montana will definitely shock you with his fluent Telugu. A video of recorded by a few of his Indian customers while visiting his ice cream store has gone viral on social media.
In the video, Richard is seen speaking fluent Telugu to his customers who seem to be enjoying the moment. He further elaborates how he picked up the South Indian language while he was residing in various cities in Andhra Pradesh like Vishakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Hyderabad for nearly 2 years.
The video begins with Richard asking his customers 'How everyone is doing in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana doing? He goes on to explain that he works in an ice-cream shop in Montana, frequented by a lot of foreign tourists every day. I still don’t understand why the customers found it so unusual seeing me talk in Telugu, Richard wonders, adding, But I cannot believe the video has got so many views and so many people have watched it. I really like the Telugu language. Andhra Pradesh naa gundello undhi (My heart is for AP forever).
A facebook profile by the name Ganesh Kesana posted the above discussed video on the 9th of July and it took absolutely no time for internet to fall in love with Richard and his Telugu. At a time when language imposition has become a major political flashpoint in India, foreigners like Richard taking pride in speaking an Indian language sends out the perfect message.
