Red-shanked douc: A messy feeder of Son Tra Nature Reserve

Our team of researchers are studying the feeding ecology of red-shanked douc langurs in Son Tra Nature Reserve using camera to film their behavior. Spending up to 20 hours a day, our team's managed to capture some splendid clips of the elusive doucs feeding in their natural habitat. They're well-known for the wasteful way in which they feed, and now their true identity of messy eaters is revealed to wider audience! They incessantly put new leaf into their mouth while still chewing, greedily picking leaves from one branch to the next. And they don't even have the common sense to close their mouth while chewing!

This is part of our research to understand their feeding ecology, in the project, Conserving red-shanked douc langur's natural habitat, funded by Disney Conservation Fund.
