A bird they called dinner | Bede Carmody | TEDxCanberra

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. When Bede Carmody tells people he has an animal sanctuary, they're often surprised when he tells them it's not for native wildlife or dog and cat rescue, but a sanctuary for poultry. Bede invites us to reconsider the way we think about these animals and what is routinely done to them within the food production system.

Bede Carmody has been involved in social justice campaigning since the beginning of 1994 after making a new year’s resolution to stop eating animals. He actively campaigns for animal rights and human rights.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
