WATCH: Republican counsel and Rep. Nunes’ full questioning of Hill and Holmes

Republican counsel Stephen Castor and Rep. Devin Nunes, the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, questioned Fiona Hill, the White House’s former top Russia adviser, and David Holmes, a top staffer at the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, on Nov. 21, in a public hearing as part of the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump. Castor questioned Hill about various other witnesses in the impeachment inquiry, including Kurt Volker, the U.S. special envoy to Ukraine, and Gordon Sondland, the U.S. ambassador to the European Union. Hill said she expressed concerns when Sondland said he would take a leading role with Ukraine policy, after the U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch, was ousted from her position. Holmes also testified on the importance of U.S. aid for Ukraine. The impeachment inquiry has focused on a July 25 phone call in which Trump asked the president of Ukraine to investigate former vice president and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.
