The Fentanyl Epidemic: What Should We Know | Isabella Hodges | TEDxYouth@HPA

Almost everyone agrees that drugs are bad. It's something commonly told to teenagers during school, along with the drug prevention methods taught as well. Although we do our best to teach students about the drug epidemic, we don’t necessarily get specific—especially about Fentanyl. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is causing unintentional overdoses in communities. Awareness and education are proven to be more effective than lecturing students, and Isabella hopes to spread this message in her talk. Isabella Hodges is a senior at HPA who knew someone who passed away from an unintentional fentanyl overdose. She saw how it affected her friend’s family and those close to her and wants to help educate and bring awareness to this epidemic so other families don’t experience the same loss. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
