Satellites are used not only for the broadcasting of television and radio programs as well as transmittting feeds in SNG area and telecommunications services. This is often still using the SCPC method that use individual carrier frequencies for the transmission of voice and fax services via satellite. Just inside of most developing countries, especially African countries, often the old analog and mostly unencrypted communication is used.
This report from DrDish TV shows on how to receive with appropriate technical equipment and monitor these signals.
