Just as Russia is becoming increasingly isolated on the world stage, it seems Vladimir Putin himself has become even more cut off.

There were already the well-publicised meetings where world leaders like Emmanuel Macron were kept apart from him at the other end of comically enormous tables. And even meetings between Russia's leader and his own security advisors were only allowed at shouting distance in a vast room.
