Star Citizen is a space simulation game with singleplayer and MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online Game) aspects. On the one hand Squadron 42 focuses on a cinematic and narrative gaming experience like the old Wing Commander games. On the other hand the Persistent Universe (PU) offers an open online sandbox similar to EVE Online. Unlike the more linear approach of Squadron 42, it gives you the choice to do pretty much whatever you want - be it trading, smuggling, pirating, mining or bounty hunting - just to mention a few. It's going to feature multiple star systems to explore with differents planets, moons and stations each. Space Port "Area 18" from this video is located on the planet ArcCorp within the Stanton System for example. The game is completely financed by crowdfunding und has raised over 100 million dollars so far. An official release date has not been announced yet.
