Fake News Seems Less Unethical When We’ve Seen It Before | Daniel Effron | TEDxLondonBusinessSchool

Why is fake news spreading on social media faster and farther than real news? Why do some people still share fake news to others even if they know the news is fake at the time when they are sharing?

Dr. Daniel Effron, a social psychologist and professor at London Business School, will introduce one simple but scary factor which causes people to excuse themselves from spreading misinformation. A social psychologist by training, Daniel A. Effron is an associate professor of organisational behaviour at London Business School. He conducts behavioral experiments to understand why good people do bad things, and what leads us to let ourselves and others off the hook for wrongdoing. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
