How to Find Wires | Using a Wire Tracer

Can’t find the other end of that wire? Need to know where behind that wall or floor a wire is run? A wire tracer (aka signal tracer) is just the tool for the job. This handy little tool pays for itself in the time saved avoiding a wire scavenger hunt.

These tracers connect to one end of a wire or cable using a transmitter that emits a tone that can be picked up by the receiver. Turn on the transmitter and then go hunting with the receiver – once it starts beeping or generating an audible tone, you’ve found your wire! You can use it to find the other end of wire that might be bundled with other unmarked wires or you can use it to find the path of the wire behind walls and floors.
