I take a look at the history and evolution of Pepé Le Pew, the love-sick, womanising skunk, is without a doubt the most controversial Looney Tune. A character who can only be described as ‘a product of his time,’ filmmakers have struggled to adapt him in the modern day, leading to him being supposedly “cancelled.”

In this video, we’ll trace his evolution from 1945 to now. To do so, we’ll touch on his design and personality changes over a near 8 decades of shorts, series and movies, while also discussing his notoriety and current place in pop culture.

I discuss how Pepé has evolved over time, alongside other Looney characters such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Sylvester the Cat, and more.
