Other complex sensations such as vision are widespread in the animal kingdom, while hearing has only been found in vertebrates and some arthropods including tiny worms.
But whether the worm actually listens is another question.
The human ear has an eardrum that vibrates when exposed to sound waves, stimulates neurons for sound processing.
On the other hand, many worms lack a specialized eardrum and are technically inaudible.
