Holy Week (Semana Santa) in Spain is unlike anything you have ever seen before, especially here in Andalusia (Andalucia) . Hooded and robed figures parade through the streets everyday, for an entire week to celebrate the Christian faiths most holiest of days. They carry large religious artifacts that are quite historic on large ceremonial pedestals (called thrones) . Its hard work and takes a large group of men to move these through the streets. The people cover their faces with pointed hoods because they are penitent for their sins, they are called "Nazarenos" (means people of Nazareth), many are children or teenagers. It is certainly a sight to behold, unlike anything I have ever seen before.
