1920s Dress on an 1892 Singer.

I dug my Great Grandmother's 1892 Treadle Singer Sewing machine out of the basement, cleaned it up and made a dress from the 1920s.

If you want to restore an old sewing machine, there are a few resources that will make your job a lot easier:

The Treadle Lady's Etsy shop:

She wrote the book on how to restore these old machines (literally) and has many supplies you may need in your journey, including new belts, needles and replacement parts. She is also gracious enough to answer questions in the Etsy messaging app.

The Sewing Machine Restoration Kit from Sew Serious LLC:

This kit contains polish that will gently clean your machine and won't hurt the pretty decals. Also, grease and oil to make everything run smoothly.

My Vintage Discoveries

This shop has a lot of hard-to-find parts needed to fix old machines such as replacement shuttles and tension springs.

The pattern I used from Lady Marlow's Etsy shop.
