Reacting to the "History of the Corset" || Busting (very weird) corset myths
It popped up on our suggested feed. We saw the comments and heard the call for help. So @Bernadette Banner, @Karolina Żebrowska, @Nicole Rudolph, @Samantha Bullat and I are going to react to Weird History's "The History of the Corset" today. We were nervous...and not fully prepared for that serving of "history".
While we can't show every reaction, to every part of this video, hopefully, we're able to myth bust, explain, and give appropriate context to the misinformation about corsets put into this video. Ultimately, the biggest takeaway is that we should try and treat the history of clothing, dress, and fashion with the same respect and attention to detail as we would any battle date or political upheaval. Nuance and context are so important when studying history, and dress history is no different.
Here's the article about "tight clothes" that was cited: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10519423/
