On June 28, 1941, on the seventh day of the Great Patriotic War, Nazi troops, after the massive bombing that destroyed much of the city, entered Minsk. This was the beginning of the occupation, which lasted 1100 days. Minsk became the centre of the General Commissariat of "Belarus" as a part of Ostland....

Minsk was liberated by the Red Army on Monday, July 3, 1944 in the evening.
