Lenin was a mushroom- the dangers of mass media and censorship. | Peter Ma | TEDxYouth@AIS
Peter has always been interested in stories which offer him a window to greater worlds beyond his own. He believes that anecdotes and storytelling play a significant role in our understanding of what can, at times, be a baffling and unpredictable world.
Peter shares his passion of how societies create narratives which reflect the world around us, and how these stories can challenge our perceptions.
Since his earliest memories as a child, Peter has always been interested in stories which offer him a window to greater worlds beyond his own. Growing up in Beijing and moving to Singapore at the age of 10 has enabled Peter to view the world around him through two distinct cultural lenses, offering him a unique perspective on the rapidly changing world around him. During his studies, Peter has always been fascinated by how even the most bizarre events in real life can be a revealing reflection of the true nature of our society. Peter believes that mundane, down-to-earth events are the key ingredients to unravelling the nature of our modern world through anecdotal storytelling that strikes pertinent issues at its core. In order to make a positive impact on his community and the wider world, Peter will continue to strive to explore and create grounded narratives which reflect the world around us to challenge the way people think and perceive the world at large. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
