Raspberry Pi computer Aquarium Controller, Auto Water Change, lighting and Storm Simulator Tour

About the Project

I wanted to create a Raspberry PI project to automate much of the tasks of my aquarium.
Lights are driven by 4x IRF520 Modules run from a 24v Power Supply, Raspberry PI provides the PWM signal using Pi Blaster
LED units are Aquaray (By Used on ebay to keep the price down)

Water Change driven by WIFI controllable Plugs, check for any that have the ability to be controlled via sending raw commands. My project is configured to use Orvibo S20 (the S25 and newer models do not work)
Many other types of wifi sockets have github projects allowing control using PHP.
The sensor is a generic hall sensor, i used one with a push-fit connector for ease of use.
Solenoid Valve i used one i had lying around but anyone will work depending on the transformer you want to
use with it, i recomend 12v. You could connect this to a relay on the PI directly if needed.

My used water from water changes goes into a water butt, so be green and recycle that water!

Rain is driven by Orvibo S20 switching on a pump which pumps out of holes drilled in push fit pipe. Keep holes small.
Use a decent pump to ensure good flow and spray.

About the code

In a word its terrible. i code for a living and i'd give myself a C for effort. It's been a late night labour of love
after spending all day coding, i planned to write this in python as a flask app originally but due to time restraints
i started with PHP as i can code faster as this is what i use more often. Watch this space!
Tested with PHP7 although should work with 5.

Doesnt use a database, all settings are stored in JSON files in config along with various config options.

I have been using FontAwesome Pro but i removed the stylesheet from project before upload to github, just add in
standard fontawesome.

Configure your Widgets in the widgets config. This tells the web UI where to load the info, what sizes to use
and what endpoints to get its data from.

About the tank

My tank is a 500 litre custom built tank by ND Aquatics. it has a wier and 3 holes drilled in the back.
It's a low tech planted aquarium inhabited by around 100 carinal tetras. I also keep reef fish but no way am i spending
the money on making this tank reef! this is my living room living biotope. It's boxed into the wall with cupboards above
and below.

About the guy
--------------------
I'm a digital services manager, which is just a more modern name for someone who does anything with IT for their firm.
My main skill is coding but usually stuff less fun than this and im always hard pressed for time.
I'm not an electronics guys persay. i am trying to learn more about creating circuits so please excuse my ignorance
on the subject. Most of my information is put together from reading well into the wee hours.

My main youtube work is for a society i am part of called the National Pouched Rat Society (just a plug really if you like animals)
