Barracuda Attacks And Devours Lionfish UHD 4k

The barracuda on this reef in Cozumel, Mexico is learning to follow the divmasters for a quick and easy meal. The Marine Parks efforts are paying off. By allowing the local Dive Masters to hunt the invasive lionfish and feed the entire fish they teach the local fauna that the lionfish can indeed be a prey species. The predator now becomes the prey! The lionfish is not native to the Atlantic and Caribbean and is extremely destructive to the reef. Predators such as the shark, barracuda, snapper and groupers can build a tolerance to the lionfish poisonous spines and then associate them as prey, keeping the lionfish population from spiraling out of control.
