Rode Wireless Go Hack - For Backpacking Hiking and Walking

The Rode Wireless Go has been around for about a year now and it’s the mic I use the most. And having used it over the last year I can definitely recommend it for vlogging.
As long as it has a clear line of sight with the receiver you are good to for a 30m range no drop outs...
Having a mic attached to your chest gives you the ability to still talk while looking away from the camera.... If you do this with a mic attached to the camera you will be so disappointed hearing the audio levels drop tremendously every time you turn away....
The battery life is fantastic...From a full charge I have just left it on for a full day vlogging 5hrs and still had power to spare... I believe they claim it has a 7hr battery....
The final thing that makes the wireless go my go to mic is it’s ability to cancellation the wind... I am usually fully exposed..... NO THATS A BIT WRONG 😂 I
I am usually out in the open so my vlogs are prone to wind issues if I don’t choose the correct mic.... be be yreec Swartz new us grew a t
So with the tiny wind muff on the wireless go blocks the wind nicely.... You may hear the wind but it will not destroy the audio.....
So to my l xx ittle hack for this mic....
It’s simple....you can’t always attach your mic to your coat shirt lapel..... especially when hiking....
Your backpack however provides the perfect place to mount your mic....frn tree enter s scares s
This clip is actually genius....and will hold very securely to your shirt lapel or collar....
The problem I found was that the action of walking and vigorous movements made the mic unit start to work itself free....
On quite a few occasions I spotted this happening and lost confidence in the clip for hiking...
So I decided to contact Rode and ask them to design a ruggedised stronger clip accessory for the Wireless Go....
Maybe im just making that last bit up...haha....
But what I have done is make a prototype just to get things moving.....So Rode I know your watching.... Your welcome...
My solution to this problem is fixed by using an action cam clamp very cheap... and my first attempt was the cable tie option.... This works perfectly....but it is semi permanent... Meaning you can’t easily remove the mic to use without the clamp....
So this is my final design..... I use a cold shoe mount attached to the clamp..... This takes advantage of the genius Rode clip that fits nicely and securely into any cold shoe....
Now we have the option to take the wireless go off the clamp easily when required...
