The Republic of Khakassia is a subject of Russia, located in the south of Siberia.  The indigenous population of the republic are the Khakases.  A special place in the Khakass folklore was occupied by tahpahs (traditional song) and musical instruments: chatkhan, khomys, yykh, kobyr, tur, timip khomys.  In the video, the song is performed to the accompaniment of khomys (Khakass folklore string musical instrument).
