Farming is Healing, Not Just Feeding | Eko Purnomowidi | TEDxBinusUniversity
Starting from a group of natural disaster volunteers who carried out disaster mitigation and area rehabilitation with reforestation, Classic Beans was born. Coffee in the Sunda plains, which are different in shape and taste with Arabica on the market, has a delicious classic taste. Not only does it taste special, this coffee with a classic taste also includes organic coffee that is environmentally friendly. Together with coffee farmers, Eko Purnomowidi builds a sustainable ecosystem by farming while protecting the environment. Of course this is not easy, considering the difficulty of preserving the environment in the midst of farming activities. Eko admitted that he still faces various challenges in processing Classic Beans organic coffee. One of the biggest challenges is changing the mindset of ordinary people who consider fertilizers or chemicals to be “medicine” in the agricultural process. In fact, these materials will actually cause side effects and serious environmental damage. The general public's perception that it is natural to poison the homeland with chemicals, and those who do not poison the homeland in farming is strange. The beautiful reframing of agriculture makes us reflect on all we do and reminds ourselves that healing is at the heart of all our work towards the earth.
