Rescuing a baby flying-fox in a nursing home: this is Montefiore

Montefiore is a 10 week old baby Grey-Headed Flying-Fox who crash-landed on the balcony of an aged care facility sometime during the night. He crawled into the open balcony door and hooked himself under a resident's hospital bed.
He was found in the morning by a cleaner and wildlife rescue was called.

Monte has grazed his thumbs and knuckles. He also had continually dislocating thumbs (and one toe) at rescue, but once he was rehydrated his thumbs haven't dislocated again. One thumb has a slightly oozy pad and one is a little swollen, but neither have dislocated again so I haven't needed to splint them.

In care, he is doing OK. It has taken him a few days to start eating, and he prefers to lie in a sling than hang, but I think he'll do better with a bunch of other juvies. He's got a buddy, Cocos who is slowly improving with him.
