I really like this theme, it has a very similar feel to the original, but it's added a lot of extra parts. As an orchestrated theme all of the layers add a nice level of complexity to it, but on guitar it can get really messy. I ended up having over 20 guitar tracks but I think I managed to get it sounding somewhat decent.
This one really did not go smoothly at all. For Christmas I got EWQL's Symphonic Orchestra, it's an orchestra plugin that sounds really professional if used correctly. So I started off the week by arranging a full orchestration using Symphonic Orchestra, it sounded really good but it was super intensive, so while recording the guitars it was running terribly slow and the recordings had a ton of artifacts. So I eventually had to give in and revert back to the normal Mixcraft instruments. (If you want to hear what the Symphonic Orchestra sounded like, I posted a clip to my Instagram last week).
After that my project corrupted, and deleted half of my recording, luckily I had a backup, so I was able to copy over the missing tracks and go from there.
On the bright side I learned something very useful this week. So I use Pod Farm to record all of guitars/bass. I had always seen other people recording a DI signal into their DAW and this allows them to reamp (change tones/ amps after it has been recorded), so I learned that I can record a DI into Mixcraft and use Pod Farm as a plugin, so I'm definitely going to use that method from now on, it'll give tons of flexibility if I ever need to change my tones.
