Chechnya - Fighting continues despite ceasefire

Reports from Grozny on Sunday (18/8) told of renewed skirmishes around the Chechen capital, despite continuing moves aimed at finalising details of a ceasefire pact. An informal, and shaky, truce took effect in the battered Chechen capital on Wednesday (14/8). But refugees continue to stream from the battle zones, using the lull in combat to search out food and shelter in areas away from the fighting.
