How Tree Doctors Keep Singapore’s 2 Million Urban Trees Healthy

Singapore’s NParks has over 250 ‘tree doctors’ who keep 2 million urban trees healthy. Arborists manage and inspect roadside and park trees regularly for signs of disease or issues that might make them prone to falling in strong winds.
With the nation’s goal of planting one million more trees by 2030, NParks has deployed what might be the world’s first Remote Tree Management System of its kind, which uses a roving scanner to collect data, making arborists’ work less laborious. It’s currently deployed at the Singapore Botanic Gardens and Jurong Lake Gardens.
