Turned out to be a 1973 Volkswagen Wild Westerner — a special edition, one of only about 200 ever made. Imported from Germany, meant for the Pacific Northwest, and somehow sitting forgotten in the Alaskan forest for over 20 years.

He tracked down the owner through the state registry. The guy had completely forgotten it existed. His offer? Take it for free if you can get it out of the woods.
They winched it out, hauled it to Utah, dropped in a new engine, and he drove it through his next year of college.

The green machine. Found by accident. Earned by curiosity.

Ask the questions. Knock on the doors. You never know what's waiting in the trees. 🌲🚐
