Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby was granted a temporary injunction against the NCAA that would allow him to play the 2026 season, after he was declared ineligible due to a sports gambling addiction. A Texas judge granted Sorsby a preliminary injunction that stops the NCAA from punishing him and banning him for violating its rules on sports gambling. Sorsby will still miss Texas Tech's first two games, which was a penalty that had been proposed by his attorneys. Judge Ken Curry stated that Sorsby's attorneys demonstrated he will suffer a 'probable, imminent and irreparable injury' if he's unable to play this season. Court documents revealed Sorsby used sportsbook accounts registered to family members and friends to wager almost $90,000 over four years and continued to gamble after transferring from Cincinnati to Texas Tech. Since then, he’s been diagnosed with a gambling and anxiety disorder and completed a 35-day stint in a rehabilitation center. #brendansorsby #texastech #texastechfootball #collegefootball
