New Delhi: Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline for free Aadhaar document updates by another year, providing relief to millions of Aadhaar card holders across the country.

The extension will allow residents to update important identity details and supporting documents online without paying any fee within the revised time period. Officials said the decision was taken to encourage more people to keep their Aadhaar information accurate and up to date.

Under the free update facility, users can upload proof of identity and address documents through the official Aadhaar portal. The initiative is aimed at improving the accuracy of the Aadhaar database and reducing issues related to outdated information.

Authorities have advised citizens whose Aadhaar details have not been updated for several years to complete the process as early as possible.
