Five Things that Every Animatronic Hand Must Crush

This animatronic hand is Brad Billwiller's project for the Introduction to Electronic Engineering Technology at Okanagan College. In this class, students are required to complete an electronics project of some kind. They are given a lot of flexibility in choosing the project and most build something using an Arduino. The project does no have to be an original design, but students do need to understand and explain the design.

Brad's project was all custom built; he did everything from sewing the flex sensors into the gloves to creating the fingers to building the stand for the hand. I wish I hadn't cut off his explanation about the different torque on the servo for the thumb, but you still get a good sense of the project.
