‘There isn’t much sympathy’ in the UK for Harry and Meghan

The Australian’s Jacquelin Magnay says there is “not much sympathy” for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the UK after the bombshell Oprah interview aired yesterday.

“They’ve reacted with horror, they’ve reacted with enormous concern but I don’t think it really changes most of the public’s perceptions about Meghan and Harry,” she told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

“They felt that the couple had abandoned the UK, that they hadn’t given the Royal Family all of their efforts, and that they had abandoned them.”

Ms Magnay says there was “enormous shock about the claims of racism” against Archie, and the public thought it was Prince Philip before Harry personally confirmed it was not.

“That then kind of put the spotlight on which family member it was and who would have had the authority and the audacity to talk to Harry about that.”
