Spalted Beech Bud Vase - Episode 61

A birthday gift for my mum, this is an appropiate present for her. This was one of the first pieces of spalted beech I bought and turned well with not too much tear out. Being quite soft wood and a fairly simple shape it was also a quick turning, hence why a short video.

The shape was inspired by watching Steve Twydell of Temple Boy turnings when he did one very similar on one of his Sunday night live shows. Go check out his channel and subscribe, always lots of interesting turnings to give you plently of ideas.

Sanded to 240 grit, two coats of sanding sealer, Yorkshire Grit and for the first time I used Chestut Microcrystaline Wax, two coats.
