SolidWorks Model Mania 2002

I am excited to share my walkthrough of the SolidWorks Model Mania 2002 challenge, an exercise that puts advanced modeling techniques and design efficiency to the test.

This challenge is divided into two distinct phases. The first consists of creating a complex geometry from a detailed 2D drawing, requiring precision, careful planning, and a deep understanding of SolidWorks’ modeling tools. The second focuses on building multiple configurations and showcases how to leverage global variables, linked dimensions, and design tables to accelerate the design process and maintain parametric control.

Although this specific Model Mania does not request it, I decided to go a step further by performing a static analysis to evaluate the factor of safety, maximum global displacement, and Von Mises stress. I believe that beyond creating accurate models, a mechanical engineer should also validate designs to ensure they are safe, efficient, and ready for manufacturing.

The concepts and techniques demonstrated in this model are essential for passing both the CSWP and CSWA–Simulation certifications, making it a valuable practice for anyone aiming to achieve these credentials.
