How to RECORD DISCORD CALLS on Mac for Free (Fast & Easy Setup!)

🎙️ Record any Discord call on your Mac — for free, no bots, no subscriptions.

Discord still has no built-in way to record a call. Most "solutions" mean adding a recording bot like Craig (server-only, misses screen-share audio, hands you files in the cloud) or paying for screen-capture software. There's a simpler, 100% free way to record Discord calls directly on your Mac — your voice and everyone else's, straight to a clean audio file you own.

In this video I show the exact setup using LitLink (a free macOS audio tool), step by step, so you can record Discord calls, interviews, podcasts, D&D sessions, or any voice chat in a couple of minutes.

👉 Download LitLink free: https://litpads.app/litlink

— What you'll be able to record —
✅ The full Discord conversation — you + every other person in the call
✅ DM calls, group calls, and server voice channels
✅ Audio from screen-shares/streams happening in the call (recording bots can't grab this — LitLink can, because to your Mac it's just system audio)
✅ A clean local file in ~/Music/LitLink Recordings/ — no cloud, no upload, no account

— The exact setup (also shown on screen) —

In LitLink:

Enable Mic Passthrough and pick your microphone.
Enable System Audio Passthrough, and set the Output Device to your headphones.
Go to the Recording page → choose Mixed → press Record on the Master row.
In Discord → Settings → Voice & Video:
4. Set Microphone to your real mic (e.g. your USB/built-in mic) — not "LitLink Audio Bridge."
5. Set Speaker to "LitLink + [your headphones]" (the device LitLink creates) — not the plain headphones, and not the bare "LitLink Audio Bridge."

Then:
6. Wear headphones (this prevents echo/feedback), hop on your call, and hit Record.
7. Press Stop when you're done — your recording appears under MY RECORDINGS and saves to ~/Music/LitLink Recordings/.

That's it. One file with your voice and everyone else's, mixed together.

— Why these two Discord settings matter —
🎧 Keeping Discord's mic on your real microphone (not the bridge) is what prevents a feedback loop.
🔊 Pointing Discord's speaker at "LitLink + headphones" is what lets the other people's voices reach the recording and your ears at the same time. Get these two wrong and you'll either get silence or an echo — so I cover them carefully in the video.

— Perfect for —
🎧 Podcasters and interviewers recording remote guests over Discord
🎲 D&D / tabletop groups archiving sessions
🎮 Gamers and streamers saving voice chat
📞 Anyone who needs a clean copy of a call (with consent)

— Good to know —
• This records everyone mixed into one file. If you need each person on a separate track, you'd use a multitrack tool like Craig or Riverside — but for a clean single-file recording, this is the fast, free way.
• Always record with everyone's consent — call-recording laws vary by region.
• Works the same for server voice channels, not just calls.

— Optional: LitLink Pro —
The recording shown here is free, forever. LitLink also has a Pro tier for power users (per-app routing, a live mixing mode that sends a balanced mix to OBS/Discord/recordings, Audio Unit plugin hosting, and multi-track/split recording) — but you don't need any of it to record a Discord call.

🖥️ Requires macOS Sonoma 14.2 or later
